Install VIKTOR
Prerequisites
For installing VIKTOR, you're going to need a few things:
Python 3.10 - 3.14 (64-bit)
Python is the programming language used by VIKTOR to write apps. VIKTOR supports Python 3.10 - 3.14 (64-bit).

- Linux
Python can be downloaded from the official website:

Python can be installed using the local package manager.
Code editor
If you want to use VIKTOR within an enterprise IT-environment, please contact your IT-department to verify that your machine meets all requirements. Alternatively, you can consider using a cloud-based development environment.
Create an account
Create a VIKTOR account if you haven't done so yet.
- Company account: please contact your local administrator or request access to your company's environment on the login page
- Free account: create a free VIKTOR account by registering on the VIKTOR website
Install & activate your account
After your account has been created, you will receive an email with a link to set your password and activate your account. Click the link and log in to VIKTOR. Now complete the following steps to install VIKTOR on your machine:

Once you are logged in navigate to the 'Develop' page in the side menu.

Choose 'Develop apps with your local IDE'. This will lead you to your user settings where you can go through the local installation flow.

Click 'Start installation'.

Finally, select 'Install on my computer' to install everything that is necessary to develop VIKTOR apps on your machine using an IDE of your choosing.

After completing the installation you can continue with the starter guide.
